“Knowing that you love the earth changes you, activates you to defend and protect and celebrate. But when you feel that the earth loves you in return, that feeling transforms the relationship from a one-way street into a sacred bond.” ― Robin Wall Kimmerer
"Look at the trees, look at the birds, look at the clouds, look at the stars and if you have eyes you will be able to see that the whole existence is joyful. Everything is simply happy. Trees are happy for no reason; they are not going to become prime ministers and they are not going to become rich. Look at the flowers...it is simply unbelievable how happy flowers are."
“Water flows free and wild, not aware of any boundaries or rules or traditions. Not bothered about anything gone or left behind, she eagerly rushes to new dimensions in her life knowing the best is yet to come. Learn to be like the soul of water; clean, compassionate, loving yet strong enough to endure anything.” - Harshada Pathare
"Listening is the first, most powerful step to increase your participation with life."
- Paramahamsa Nithyananda
In our modern, technology-saturated lives, there are increasingly fewer moments when every single cell of our being is completely - authentically - engaged in what is happening around us and WITHIN us in the present moment. Rewilding the soul is the process of unstructuring the stiff way in which we hold our bodies and consciousness in every day life, and through intimacy with nature, allow motion and emotion to move us into the bliss of existence.
It is in the space of attentive presence and receptivity where we begin to drop our defenses against ourselves and experience what it is to be both human and divine.
In this space, we become fully alive.
How much do we recieve every single day from the earth, without being asked to give back to her? We are offered fresh air, sunshine, the paper we write on, the fruit we eat, the water we bathe in.
Through practicing reciprocity - reciprocating the gifts we are given - we are increasing our awareness of our connectedness with nature and existence itself, and expressing intimacy with nature through our gratitude.
"When we practice reciprocity, we can face our human experience with fewer symptoms of stress, anxiety, boredom, self-hatred, rage, and crisis. We are less likely to cause harm. We are less likely to internalize feelings of inferiority, and less likely to act under the illusion of superiority." - Tam, ANFT Guide
Nature connection and culture repair arise together.
In Forest Therapy, we create a container in which people can step outside of the ordinary, tamed ways of perceiving and experiencing; we nurture a space where speaking openly of unusual or emotional experiences is witnessed non-judgementally.
Culture repair takes people from feeling separate from nature to feeling unified with the infinite network of relationships our planet is sustained by and our universe is composed of.
Kelowna Forest Therapy Services incorporates four universal principles as per Sanatana Hindu Dharma into all interactions and relationships within walks: integrity, authenticity, responsibility, and enriching. We seek to naturally inspire culture repair within each individual by radiating these principles from a space of complete compassion.
